URBAN ARCHAEOLOGY - NISSAN HUT

Had an opportunity to cross to the other side of the Fortescue Marsh yesterday (it's the inland body of water centre of pic), over into the Hamersley Ranges. Along the way we dropped in on Marillana Station. It's one of the huge cattle stations up this way.
.
Near the Marillana homestead there is a group of sheds, the one that stood out from the rest was this old Nissan hut. Nissan huts were plentiful around the time of the world wars. They were used in Australia by the military and after world war two to house the many immigrants who poured in from Europe.
.
These days they aren't around as much as they used to be, so it was pretty cool seeing one.
